How To Tell If You're Off Track

I know life can seem hard, like a series of milestones to tick off, but that's an illusion.
If that's true for you - you're off track.
One of the best quotes I've heard, although I can't remember who said it, is that "life is not a plan you execute, it's something you live."
I'm not saying you can't or shouldn't plan your life, in fact, I think you should have an overarching vision so you have a North Star to navigate by.
But if you treat your life and career like a to-do list with boxes you check off, you'll miss the point. You'll miss the richness and spontaneity that life naturally brings.
Here's the thing, your life isn't a project plan - it's an adventure.
Adventures aren't linear. You do your best to make a plan, and then you have to pull the pin and see what comes.
These journeys never go according to plan, they aren't perfect - and that's why it's fun. You get to use all your resources to solve the riddle.
And when you let go of the chokehold you have on your plan and allow your life to flow like a river - around blind corners and over rocks - you can experience surprise magnificence and beauty you can't plan.
And after the fact, you'll feel that deep, soul-level satisfaction you're looking for.
Your life isn't a project plan - it's an adventure.
I invite you to grab a cup of coffee and sit down for a few minutes today.
Ask yourself these three questions:
Does my current life allow me to do the things I want to do?
Is my life full of the adventures I crave?
Am I planning weekends, trips, and vacations as a bandaid because I don't have the life I really want?
Life is short.
You owe it to yourself to take the time today to look at the big picture.
